Health Scare!

I began working in the Healthcare industry in 1980. There was a healthcare scare at that time. Society was in fear. Shortages of medical supplies led to unsafe health conditions in the Hospitals as the cost of medical supplies spiked as "SHORTAGES" flooded the headlines in the media.
I worked as a Purchasing technician with a national medical enterprise at the time. There was a breakdown in the system that took many years to recover from.

Home Care

From there I worked for an Oxygen supply company. As I set up liquid oxygen and DME in patients' homes, I set the stage for Home Care agencies to come and implement care for those in Hospice or recovering from hospital stays.

Methadone Treatment
I managed a Methadone Treatment Clinic for a year under the guidance of Forrest Tenant. This was a very tumultuous time for the business of methadone clinics. I was hired to clean the programs but a year later he systematically shut down all his PHC clinics.

Blood Donation Company

From there, I worked for a year with a blood donation company. I would review and address health concerns and history prior to the donation of blood.

ICU/ER

For 2 years after this, I worked at a local hospital In the ICU as a telemetry tech part-time, then at another hospital for 6 years in the critical care wards as an ER Tech, Tele Tech, CNA, ward clerk, and EKG Tech. This direct patient care allowed me to build my skillset, and work with seasoned professionals whom I admire and respect as we worked together to sew people up, contain the teen that overdosed, and hold the hands whose loved ones had been lost in a crash or domestic incident.

Medical Assistant

Leaving there, and after another year of college, I was hired on as a medical assistant for a Cardiovascular Interventionist. Working with the critically ill on an outpatient basis allowed me the opportunity to build relationships with patients as we walked through their health struggles together on repeated visits over 8 years. Having the mentorship of a seasoned Cardiologist after being trained by another while going to College, I gleaned a practical understanding of Cardiovascular Intervention and post-care.

Family Practice
From there I did ten years in family practice with a local practitioner well known and loved in the county. From hangnails to epidermoid cysts, anal fissures to Xenophobia, and Scleroderma to Lupus, I captured the essence of the healthcare need from the trenches.

Personal Passions
I support a local homeless outreach program, a men's group that meets weekly to build a better community through prayer and concerted effort. I support a motorcycle ministry and a recovery program in the county. My experience can help you.

The Healthy Living Workshop

Before all things we need to be good stewards of the bodies we were given. Although there are genetic issues we cannot avoid(yet), we can still optimize the way our bodies function and how it reacts to stress, pressure, joy, and pain.

Taking steps to be healthy mentally, physically, and spiritually will inhibit the progression of disease and allow time for healing.
